WHAT DOES SCLEROSIS MEAN?Sclerosis is a procedure aimed at reducing the fibrosis in the treated vein so that it degenerates into cicatricial tissue after the vessel has been coagulated. SclerotherapySclerotherapy can be divided into two large groups: Sclerotherapy using chemical substances or traditional sclerotherapy.
Sclerotherapy using lasers or light sources, also referred to as photosclerosis.
Chemical sclerotherapy can be divided into: Sclerosis with foams
Cryosclerosis (sclerosis with a cooling of the sclerosant substance at – 40°C)
Conventional liquid sclerosis
Chemical sclerotherapy works by irritating the internal wall of the vein (endothelium), which produces coagulation, and subsequently, fibrosis of the treated vein. IML - Paseo del General Martínez Campos, 33 - 28010 Madrid - Tlf. 91 702 46 27 - consulta@iml.es
